This two-hour workshop will examine proactive approaches to help inhibit academic dishonesty. We will discuss why cheating happens, when cheating happens, and what we can do to curb cheating. The prevention tools and strategies explored include effective uses of plagiarism-detection software (VeriCite), secure settings for online quizzes, and best scenarios for when to use proctoring services.
In this two-hour hands-on session we will demonstrate how you set up the grade book by setting up your assignments, how to create and add a rubric, how to grade assignments using SpeedGrader, and how to manage your grade book. Experience with Canvas is preferable, but not required.
In this five-hour intensive hands-on training with instructional designers, you will explore all aspects of Canvas including you will cover all content for both Getting Started and Gradebook. It is a perfect session to start with if you are new to Canvas. You will also participate in building a course from scratch.
In this two-hour hands-on session you will get a bird's eye overview of Canvas. We will begin with Canvas' global features, including the Dashboard, Conversations, and the Calendar. We will then look at how to get started working with your courses in Canvas. We will go over the basics, including course Settings, the course Home page, the dynamic Syllabus, and Assignments. You will be able to practice posting a syllabus and creating assignments, and we will show you how assignments and the grade book are connected in Canvas.
This two to four-hour open lab will be supported by two Instructional Designers who will be available to answer questions and troubleshoot technical problems you may have with your Canvas course. Previous experience with Canvas is required for successful participation in Canvas labs. Come prepared to work independently on your course.
This is a two-hour hands-on workshop that will examine quiz design. Participants will explore quiz settings, question types, quiz types, quiz banks and question grouping methods used in designing basic and complex quizzes in your Canvas course.
